A home project is easier to plan when you can see where the money goes.
Home Project is a growing collection of tools for New Zealand homeowners. We are starting with heat pumps: how much heating a space may need, what an installation could cost, and what that means for an electricity bill.
Help before you request a quote
Our aim is to help you prepare for a conversation with a tradesperson. You should be able to compare options, understand the assumptions and ask better questions, without handing over your contact details to run a calculation.
What is available today
The heat pump calculator is the first tool. It covers single rooms, whole-home scenarios, installation price ranges, running costs and provisional grant scenarios. More home project tools may follow as the underlying research and calculations are ready.
What the calculator can and cannot do
The tool is in planning beta. Its sizing model is a simplified proxy, not a room-by-room engineering assessment. Prices are indicative ranges drawn from published sources; they are not live supplier quotes. A qualified installer needs to confirm equipment selection and installation scope.
We do not claim professional HVAC certification, government endorsement or formal engineering sign-off. Read the methodology and editorial policy for the current limits.
Who runs the site
Home Project Cost Intelligence NZ is the publishing name of this project. It is not an installation business or a government service.
